Easy Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Fri, 27 Nov 2015

I was contacted by the Recruiter from the career fair. They scheduled an on-campus interview about a week after contacting me. Engineers from multiple areas had come to interview such as a software engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer etc. They had an information session a day before the interview. The engineers were nice people. The HR was.. well.. rude would be an understatement. This is one of those companies that don't get back to you after an interview; and this was a face-face interview. I have a message to this company's recruiting group - You should reply to a candidate especially when they mail you more than once.

Interview Questions
The software engineer was gracious and down to earth. I was asked questions from my resume and very basic programming knowledge based questions. I was asked to review a C++ code with errors. The engineer did ask me to mail the HR if I don't get a response in two weeks. In his own words - "We should mail you. I mean that's the least we can do, whatever the result might be" (Especially this being an on campus interview)

The Interview process was very detailed, following 2 Interview Sessions. The Initial Interview was a lot of technical questions about my Studies, and extra curricular activities. We also covered some psychological questions and overall explanation of the O&G Services. The second interview was more Schlumberger specific and discussing about the segments in the company, where we see ourselves, and general attitude observations.

I was a chill interview. They asked general questions related to my personality, based on my resume. Since, they did not have much time so it was a quick interview. Initial shortlisting was based on resume but it was more random. They pay much attention to your personality, your positions of responsibility. Interview went on smoothly. The students who were finally selected were asked some of the basic technical questions.

Talked to the recruiting team during info session, then I was invited for an on-campus interview second day. Received on-site interview invitation one week after. The on-site interview was a 3 day process, consisting of 2 days filled with activities helped you get to know Schlumberger and final day for the interview. Questions are mostly resume based questions and they are very easy. Interviewers are nice.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Abingdon, England(took 30 days)
They sent me a letter for attending the interview. I met with the IT manager (who was my direct line boss) and he interviewed me. It was quite informal (bare in mind it was for an internship) and he asked me some general technology problems. He talked about the role on offer and described what my typical day-to-day tasks might be. He then went on to talk about specific projects that we wanted done over the longer-term. He made it clear that I could fit the job to my interests (to some degree) and I could (e.g.) choose the language to program in for X,Y,Z tasks. Then we talked about lunch time activities available (they provide football as in-house exercise excursion).

At that time to work for Schlumberger, you would need to be a temp for hire. But It was quick and easy by the recruiter. Than I was forward to a a company called SOS at the time but now they're called Elwood Staffing. This were I was to do a 10 year back ground check physical and drug testing. Nothing to it... Just be clean, or you just wasting your time getting any job.

1st Telephonic- Has basic engineering questions and gauge your communication skills 2nd Face to face - 10 mins presentation of your current job followed by technical interview, 3rd - If cleared then sent to HR round for salary negotiations. 4th - Medical 5th -Offer letter The interviews very significantly difficult compared to a lot of other company interview i attended. The question tested your knowledge in basic engineering, the interviewers were smart enough not to ask typical text book interview questions

Pretty straightforward interview process. Spent a little time with HR covering the basic questions and mandatory stuff, then spent 20-30 minutes with each of the engineers on the team I ended up joining. Nothing too technical but asked questions back and forth about what the job would require and if I would be a good fit.

Apply online. First Interview in person. Standard. Second interview flown to OKC for a group interview. Very strenuous. Stay up most of the night for a stress test followed up by waking up early for an on sight visit. Including a presentation and a personality assessment. Offers came within a few weeks.
