Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Thu, 17 Dec 2015

Interviewed Oct 2013 in Toronto, ON(took 42 days)
There were two interview stages, the first one was a on campus interview with the recruiter. After passing the first stage, the candidates were invited to a SLB office for a second round interview along with 10 to 12 other candidates.

Interview Questions
The first interview was a fairly casual chat with the recruiter, I think personality was more important than any technical skills you have. The second group interview is where you need to stand out. There's a presentation with an assigned topic, there's also group activities where you are judged on how you interact with other people and solve problems.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Wed, 30 Dec 2015

Interviewed Nov 2015 in Kuala Lumpur
Interview was intense. You have to strive to be noticed by the interviewer. There were several parts of the intern interview. Firstly, the introduction. You are given a maximum time of 3 minutes to introduce yourself, hobbies, 3 weaknesses and 3 strengths and why did you chose Schlumberger. Pretty fun if you're a talkative person. Second part is a group presentation. You are given into groups and need to solve a task given to you by showing your role as a team member. A presentation is required after the task has been finished. Short-listed candidates are informed after the presentation. Third, a general test combining physics, maths, additional maths, English and common sense will be given to you and have to be finished within the time limit. Finally, a face to face interview with the HR manager.

Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, but I declined – Mon, 4 Jan 2016

Interviewed Nov 2015(took 31 days)
Interviewed at a career fair at a conference, almost two weeks later heard back to do a second interview in Midland Tx. This interview was 3 days long. Had to give a presentation with other candidates, and for the first night just learned as much as possible about the company and position. The HR (former field engineers) were great and super personable. They could be tough though. Did a timed team project and it was a very long night. They're basically seeing your work ethic and if you can work long hours and how well you work with people. Second day you go out to an oil rigg and then later that evening is the exit interview. Only 10 mins long and basically ask what you're interested in and what type of field engineer you want to be. Got an offer about two weeks later.

Very simple application process. I simply applied online and was invited to a day long assessment centre. The assessment enter took the format of logic based tests, a short personal presentation followed by 1:1 interviews. The interview comprised of an informal chat following some standard questions and included having to put together a pressure regulator valve from a component drawing.

They will go over benefit package and talk about past projects with some quizzing to see if you pay attention.

Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Tue, 12 Jan 2016

Interviewed Sep 2015(took 90 days)
Applied at career fair on campus. Was emailed a week later for an on campus interview. 30 minute behavioral interview that felt very relaxed and comfortable. About 3 weeks later was notified that I'd been invited to participate in a 2 day second round interview. The first day consisted of a group dinner and a lengthy series of technical presentation, presented by the applicants, on a business segment we had been notified of before hand. We worked in teams and this took until about midnight. Next a classic "popsicle sticks and rubber bands" team challenge was posed, and we were divided into teams of 5. The recruiters walk around with a clip board and take note of your leadership and role within the group. My team won ;) A few other small challenges were peppered in, and by the end of Day 1 it was nearly 3 am. We were awoken at 7am the next morning to take a group field trip out to a Schlumberger rig/field site. We toured several facilities and were given many opportunities to ask questions. ASK QUESTIONS. We had lunch then headed back to the hotel for a brief exit interview and dinner. The exit interview mostly just asked what business segment interests you most. Quick and painless. Overall, be social and do not look tired, even though you will be!

Very Easy Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Tue, 12 Jan 2016

Interviewed Jan 2016(took 15 days)
30 min interview at a conference. Recruiter told me immediately that I made it to the 2nd round. They flew me to TX two weeks after that for a group interview. Interview atmosphere was very laid back and relaxing. They gave presentations on the different company segments, spoke about their experiences so far, then I gave a group presentation on topics they had given us the week before. The whole thing started a 6pm and ended at 3am. Next day we were up at 7am for breakfast and drove to a site at 8am. Then lunch, then a 10 min exit interview. After the exit interviews we went for dinner at a steakhouse, recruiters drank a bit too much...to the point that I thought "Are they serious". I encourage you to be honest about your interest in SLB, ask questions, and try to get all recruiters to notice you.
